Dr John McGuinness, Ear Nose Throat, Head and Neck Surgeon, FDS, RCS, FRCS (Oto HNS), FRACS (Oto HNS)

Dr John McGuinness, FRACS is an internationally trained, highly respected and experienced surgeon dealing exclusively with conditions of the Ear Nose and Throat and Head and Neck for both adults and children.

Dr McGuinness has worked in some of the world's leading specialist hospitals, including the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He is currently the Head of Department and the lead ENT Surgeon in the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Clinic at Liverpool Public Hospital; the largest teaching hospital in Australia, where he has also established a ground breaking Multidisciplinary Voice and Airway Clinic, the first of its kind in New South Wales. He is also a Visitin Medical Officer at St George Public Hospital and The Chris O'Brien Lifehouse at RPA. He is a respected author and speaker and presents regularly at local, state and international meetings. He is among the first ENT surgeons in Australia to be accredited to perform Robotic Surgery of the head and neck. He is a pioneer and advocate for minimal access and endoscopic approaches to head and neck cancers.

We have rooms at Bondi Junction, St George Private, and Campbelltown Private Hopsital. Operating is carried out at St George Private Hospital, Lifehouse and Campbelltown Private Hospital.

For your convenience, and in order to avoid multiple specialist appointments, Dr McGuinness' practice offers a range of services not usually accessible in one setting including:

  • In-room ultrasonography of the neck and thyroid
  • Ultrasound guided biopsies
  • Videostroboscopic assessment of the vocal folds
  • Awake "in chair" trans nasal oesophagoscopy
  • Joint consultancy with a qualified speech and language therapist for patients with voice and swallowing problems

A cornerstone of Dr McGuinness’ practice is to provide patients timely access to services and his staff will ensure urgent cases will always be given priority.
